VOLTA

The 85 meter long self-propelled tanker Volta went aground on the Lek while between Vianen and Nieuwegein.   The Volta had suffered engine failure and went aground in shallow water near the main fairway.  No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released. The vessel will refloat itself on the next high tide after the engine repaired.

The 16 meter long fishing vessel Alize 3 became disabled while off Écréhous, France.  The Alize 3 had its propeller fouled by shipping container nylon cover.   The Coast Guard dispatched a patrol boat to the scene.   Two divers were able to clear the propeller and the fishing vessel was able to resume its voyage.  No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.
