Volgoneft 121

The 132 meter long, 4640 dwt tanker Volgoneft 121 went aground on Nizhnyaya Sheksna River  near the 545 kilometer mark.  The Vologneft 121 was attempting to drop anchor in the fog when it struck bottom.   The tanker suffered damage to its hull with its ballast tanks breached suffering water ingress.  No reports of injuires or pollution released.   The Volgoneft was en route to St. Petersburg, Russia from Yaroslavl with 4267 tons of gasoline.

Chopin

Chopin

The 104 meter long, 5697 dwt freighter Chopin allided with the 142 meter long, 10464 dwt reefer Atlantic Mermaid at St. Petersburg, Russia.  The Chopin was attempting to dock with a pilot on board.  The pilot suggested the assistance of a harbour tug, but the master of the Chopin did not agree.  The strong current pulled the Chopin into the moored Atlantic Mermaid and the quay.  No reports of injuries on either vessel.   The damage to the vessels was not reported.
