Excavator To Safety

The 31 meter long tug Geitung became disabled near Kopervik, Norway.  The tug was towing a barge from Karmøy loaded with a cargo of rocks when it suffered engine failure while en route to Kopervik.   The barge used the excavator as a paddle to pull the vessels toward the harbour.  Later a pilot boat arrived on scene and took the Geitung and barge under tow into the harbour.   No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.

Pandora

Pandora

The 133 meter long, 82238 dwt container ship Pandora went aground in Japan‘s Inland Sea near Imabari, Japan.   The Pandora was headed to Osaka, Japan from Qingdao, China.  No reports of injuries.   The vessel was refloated with some assistance and proceeded to the harbour at Imabari where it was berthed at a quay.   Authorities are conducting an inspection of the vessel for any possible damage.

Magnum Power

Magnum Power

The 189 meter long, 53632 dwt bulk freighter Magnum Power  became disabled in the Dardanelles near Nara, Turkey.  The bulk carrier was en route to India from Nikolayev, Ukraine, when it suffered an engine failure.   Tugs were requested and towed the Magnum Power to a safe anchorage near Guzelyali.   No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.
