Bernic Aground

Bernic Aground

The 70 meter long self-propelled barge Bernic went aground in the lock between Scheldt River and Pommeroeul-Conde Canal.  The master of the Bernic was proceeding to a section that had closed in the 1990s due to being too shallow for barge traffic.  The Bernic was unable to free itself and has requested the assistance of a tug.  No reports of injuries, damage or pollution being released.
