On the morning of July 30, the 81 meter long self-propelled barge Dythar (MMSI: 244129846) allided on the Scheldt River at Terneuzen, Netherlands. The Dythar was approaching the west lock at Terneuzen when it was struck by another undisclosed vessel. The Dythar then crashed into the lock damaging both the lock and the vessel.  Authorities closed the lock for an hour until emergencies repairs could be completed. Reports state there was some hull damage to both the bow and stern of the Dythar above the waterline.  No reports of injuries or pollution released.

On the morning of May 1, the 106 meter long, 6392 dwt cement carrier Cement Trader (IMO: 7716763) ran aground on the Western Scheldt at the entrance to Terneuzen, Netherlands. The Cement Trader was headed  to Terneuzen from Setubal when the the vessel became stranded.  Multiple tugs were dispatched and were able to refloat the Cement Trader which proceeded to moor at Terneuzen.  No reports of injuries or pollution released. Reports state that authorities will inspect the vessel for damage.

On the afternoon of April 8, 2025, the 82 meter long self-propelled barge Saeftinge (MMSI: 244700744) caught fire on the Western Scheldt while berthed in Terneuzen, Netherlands. The fire started in the vessel’s engine room. The local fire brigade was called and were able to extinguished the fire a short time later.  Reports state the Saeftinge remained moored in Terneuzen. No reports of injuries. No details were disclosed to the extent of damage caused by the incident.
