The 37 meter long fishing vessel Den Hoope – O 231 ran aground off Stellendam, Netherlands. The Den Hoope had departed from Le Havre when it stranded in shallow water.  The KNRM lifeboat was called to assist. The lifeboat was able to pull the Den Hoope into deeper water.  The Den Hoope was proceeded into the port of Stellendam.  No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.

The 32 meter long fishing vessel Sirius caught fire while berthed in the port of Stellendam, Netherlands.  The fire started during the night in the wheelhouse and quickly the superstructure was engulf in flames.  The local fire brigade from Stellendam and Goedereede struggled to contain the blaze.  With the aide of the KNRM the fire was eventually brought under control a few hours later.  No reports of injuries as no one was on board the Sirius at the time of the fire.  The Sirius mooring lines had burnt and the vessel had to be towed back to the quay.  Early reports state the fire most likely was started by an electrical short.

 

Maria GO 20

The 39 meter long fishing vessel Maria GO 20 went aground near Stellendam, Netherlands. The fishing vessel was coming in from the North Sea to seek shelter from the heavy seas and strong winds when it grounded in the Slijkgat.  No reports of injuries or pollution released. The Stellendam KNRM lifeboat responded to scene.  The lifeboat’s first attempt to refloat the Maria failed.  The lifeboat waited a few hours until the rising tide and was able to refloat the Maria.  The Maria was later inspected for damage.
