The 100 meter long, 5200 dwt cargo vessel Sardius ran aground on the North Sea Canal at Ijmuiden, Netherlands. The Sardius had veered onto a shoreline dike, but was able to refloat itself a short time later. No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released. The Sardius was able to continue on its voyage to Amsterdam.  Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.

The 70 meter long tanker TTS 1 collided with the Velsen ferry on the North Sea Canal near Velsen, Netherlands.  The TTS 1 suffered damage to its bow.  The ferry had some damage, but was able to continue on to berth on the north side of the canal.  Ferry passengers were able to safely disembark.  No reports of injuries of either vessel.   The local authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.
