The 15 meter long work barge Josva caught fire off Kristiansand, Norway. The fire broke out in the engine room while the vessel was between Herøya and Stokken. The fire disabled the engine and the two crew on board abandoned ship. A nearby sailboat rescued the two crew and were taken ashore.  Local firefighters were ferried to the vessel assisted by a NSSR lifeboat. Reports state the vessel’s superstructure was completely gutted. No reports of injuries or pollution released.

The 110 meter long freighter Norvind suffered engine problems while off  Kristiansand, Norway.   The Norvind was heading to Tyssedal from Gdynia with 5000 tons of electrode paste.   A tug was called and will tow the Novind into Kristiansand for repairs.  No reports of injuries, damage or pollution being released.

Oriana Gets a Dent

The 261 meter long , 6260 dwt cruise ship Oriana allided with the quay at Kristiansand, Norway.  The Oriana was departing when the stern bumped the corner of the pier.   The cruise ship suffered some damage with a dent on the stern several meters wide.   The damage was limited and the Oriana was allowed to proceed on to England.  No reports of injuries or pollution being released.
