Reports state that the fishing vessel 634 GT 420 GRT Yahata Maru No. 35 was in Kesennuma, Japan when the tsunami struck.  Seventeen crewmen were known to have survived and have left Japan for Indonesia on March 20, 2011.  No reports on where the vessel is located now.

Reports state that the 221 dwt fishing vessel Kinei Maru No. 31 was in Kesennuma, Japan when the tsunami struck.  Eight crewmen were known to have survived and have left Japan for Indonesia on March 20, 2011.  No reports on where the vessel is located now.

The 48 meter long, 379 gt fishing vessel Myojin Maru No. 3 was caught by the tsunami and was washed ashore onto a road in Kesennuma, Japan.   No details if any crew was on board at the time.   Photo shows some stern damage from a collision.
