On April 15, the 75 meter long bulk carrier Royal 09 allided with a bridge on the Đồng Nai River in Bien Hoa City, Vietnam. The Royal 09 had been at anchor when a technical fault cause the vessel to break free from its anchor. Being pushed by the rising tide and strong winds, the Royal 09 drifted upstream and struck the Đồng Nai Bridge. The bulk carrier became wedged against the bridge until three tugs were able to pull the vessel free.  The Đồng Nai Bridge sustained only minor damage and traffic resumed a short time later. No reports of injuries to the 9 crew on board. No further details reported.

A barge collided with the Ghenh bridge over the Dong Nai River in Dong Nai, Vietnam. The barge was passing under the bridge when it struck the railway bridge causing the middle span to collapse into the river and capsized the barge. Reports states three persons on the bridge were later rescued from the water. Authorities continue to search the area for any other victims.

The tug TG 6715 sank on the Dong Nai River near  Bien Hoa, Vietnam.   The tug was at anchor waiting for the water level to rise when it was struck by a barge.    The barge was one of many being towed carrying sand from Long An to Dong Nai which had been waiting for the river’s water level to rise.  While the barge was anchoring, the anchor line broke to the barge sending it downstream and crashing into the TG 6715.   One crewman from the tug fell into the river and was reported missing.  A search by authorities and local fisherman found no trace of the crewman. The remaining crew were safely rescued.   Authorities are conducting an investigation into the incident.
