The 85 meter long self-propelled barge Ursula Klaus went aground on the Danube near Deggendorf, Germany.   The vessel’s bow went hard aground on the river bottom causing hull damage and water ingress.   The Ursula Klaus was able to proceed to the nearby shipyard where the local fire brigade arrived on scene.   The firefighters provided pumps to keep the barge from sinking along with a pollution containment tank to avoid any pollution entering the river.   No reports of injuries.   The Ursula Klaus cargo of 600 tons of soybean meal was unloaded at Deggendorf before it proceeded to the yard for repairs.  The water police have launched an investigation into the incident.
