The 108 meter long self-propelled tanker-barge Köpenick ran aground on the Rhine near Kestert, Germany. The Köpenick had suffered engine failure while proceeding toward Rotterdam with 2100 tons of diesel fuel. A tug was requested to assist refloating the Köpenick, but attempts failed to release the vessel.  A lighter vessel was requested to assist efforts the next day.
