The 120 meter long ro-ro cargo vessel Kvitbjørn ran aground off Skeide, Norway. The Kvitbjørn was en route to Ulsteinvik from Bergen when it struck a reef. The NSSR lifeboat was requested and attempted to pull the Kvitbjørn free, but without any success. A tug was requested and was able to refloat the Kvitbjørn on the rising tide. No reports of injuries to the 15 persons on board, damage or pollution released. The Kvitbjørn proceeded to a nearby yard for inspection. Reports state the cause of the grounding was due to a technical fault.
