The 7000 dwt tanker Patriot Andalan allided and sank at the terminal at Ternate, Indonesia.  The Patroit Andalan had arrived from Papua New Guinea with 5,000 tons of heavy fuel and 2,000 tons of diesel fuel.   The tanker had offloaded some 1,600 tons of heavy fuel when a storm hit.  A large wave  struck the tanker causing it to collide with  the terminal.  The Patriot Andalan had its hull breached quickly filling with water.   The tanker sank a short distance from the terminal spilling out its cargo of heavy fuel.  No reports of injuries.   Conflicting reports state the quantity of fuel spilled.  Authorities have attempted to contain the spill.

The 19 meter long, 68 rt fishing vessel Fleur de France J.86 became disabled off Point of Ayre near Ramsey, Isle of Man.  The fishing vessel had fouled its propeller and rudder and required assistance.   The Ramsey RNLI lifeboat responded to the scene and took the Fleur de France under tow.  The lifeboat was assisted by another fishing vessel which allowed the vessels to safely enter the harbour entrance.  No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.

Cordova Collision

The 209 foot long, 1032 dwt barge Cordova Provider allided with the 225 foot long Coast Guard Cutter Sycamore at its mooring in the harbor at Cordova, Alaska.  The barge was being maneuvered by the 52 foot long, 65 dwt tug Krystal Sea when it struck the cutter.   The barge suffered no damage, but the Sycamore had some damage reported.  No reports of injuries to the four crew on board the barge or pollution released.   Authorites have launched an investigation into the incident.  The Sycamore is based in Cordova as a bouy tender along with search and rescue missions.
