Heikendorf

The 33 meter long, 47 dwt ferry Heikendorf ran aground near Kiel, Germany.   The ferry was approaching a pier at Friedrichsort when it suffered a technical fault allowing the vessel to run aground onto a sandbar.   The 75 passengers on board were transferred to another ferry.  A tug was able to refloat the Heikendorf and towed it to Kiel to be inspected.  No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.

Loamar Segundo

The 108 gt fishing vessel Loamar Segundo sank in the Atlantic Ocean near Cape Verde Islands.   The eleven member crew sent out a distress call before abandoning ship into the vessel’s two life rafts.   The Spanish MRCC requested assistance from nearby vessels to aid in the rescue effort.    The 183 meter long, 50667 dwt tanker Navig8 Loucas responded and headed to the scene.   The tanker safely rescued all 11 crew and proceeded to Las Palmas.   No reports of injuries.

Margareta B

The 99 meter long, 5397 dwt container ship Margareta B allided with the lock gate on the Kiel Canal at Brunsbuettel, Germany.   The gate sustained significant damage requiring the lock to be taken out of service afterwards.  No reports of injuries or pollution being released.  The container ship was allowed to continue on its voyage to Hamburg from Halmstad.  No further details reported.
