Cap Saint Georges

The 46 meter long, 710 dwt freighter Cap Saint Georges went aground near Ziguinchor, Senegal.  No further details reported.

Barrier Star

The fishing vessel Barrier Star ran aground on Big Stevens Reef near Mackay, Australia.  The trawler with six persons on board quickly contacted authorities for assistance.   A  rescue vessel from the VMR along with a rescue helicopter were dispatched to the scene.   When rescuers reached the Barrier Star a few hours later, the crew had already refloated the fishing vessel.  No reports of injuries or pollution being released.  Reports state the trawler was taken under tow back to Mackay.

MSC Brianna

The 245 meter long, 43288 dwt container ship MSC Brianna allided into the wharves at Kingston, Jamaica.  The container ship suffered no damage, but the wharves suffered some damage.   No reports of injuries or pollution being released.

Hoegh Asia

The 229 meter long, 27000 dwt car carrier Hoegh Asia ran aground at the entrance of Livorno, Italy.   The vessel was entering the port with 6000 cars on board when it struck bottom.   The Hoegh Asia remained firmly aground on the sandy bottom until the next day.   Several tugs were able to refloat the vessel after shifting vehicles on the cargo decks.   The car carrier proceeded into Livorno where it berthed.   No reports of injuries or pollution being released.   The Italian Coast Guard has dispatched inspectors to assess if the vessel suffered any hull damage.
