The 50 meter long self-propelled barge Elizabeth became disabled in the Weser-Datteln Canal near Dorsten, Germany.   The vessel had suffered water ingress near the bow and was in danger of sinking.   The vessel requested assistance and the local fire department responded with dewatering pumps.   No reports of injuries or pollution being released.  The fire fighters laid out a boom around the Elizabeth as a precaution.   The Elizabeth was en route to the Wessel River with a cargo of plastic pellets.   Reports state the leak could have been caused by ice.
