The 86 meter long, 2669 dwt freighter Rona went aground near Akpinar, Turkey.   The vessel had entered the Black Sea when the master decided to anchor off Kilyos due to bad weather.  However, the high winds caused the anchor to drag and the vessel drifted aground.  The master of the vessel initially refused assistance, but as the storm worsen the ship owners requested assistance and the Turkish Coast Guard.  They dispatched two rescue boats along with a tug to the scene.    The Rona was en route to Varna from Tuzla.

Update:  All crew was safely removed from the vessel on Jan28, 2011.   No reports of injuries.
