Missouri Barge Strikes Bridge

A loose barge on the Missouri River allided with the Ike Skelton Bridge causing minor damage to the bridge.  The bridge was shutdown for several hours for inspection before it reopenned the same day.  The barge floated down the river a short distance until it ran aground onto a dyke near Lexington, Missouri.  No reports where the barge came from and who was it’s owner.

Georgelou N Aground

Georgelou N Aground

The 25-meter (82 feet) fishing vessel Georgelou N ran aground off Formby Point near the River Mersey, England.   The Georgelou N had left Liverpool with seven crew when it became disabled after the gearbox broke down.   The vessel soon after became stranded with the falling tide.   The Liverpool Coastguard responded and was able to to tow the vessel off the sandbank a few hours later.   The Georgelou N was being towed back to Liverpool to be inspected.

Collision off St. Petersburg

Collision off St. Petersburg

The 48,170 dwt freighter Golden Trader collided with the 37,296 dwt tanker Baltic Wind off St. Petersburg, Russia.   The two vessels were proceeding in an ice convoy lead by the icebreaker Ermak when the Baltic Wind stopped in front of the  Golden Trader.   The Baltic Wind suffered minor damage to its stern and an aft lifeboat.  The Golden Trader didn’t report any damage.   No reports of  injuries or pollution released.
