Freighter Eren aground

The St. Kitts flagged freighter Eren went aground while leaving the port of Belgorod-Dnestrovskiy, Ukraine, on the Black Sea. The 3261 ton vessel was loaded with timber bound for Turkey. Reports state no damage or pollution being released.

Carnival Splendor disabled by fire

The Carnival cruise ship Splendor after a fire in the engine room disabled all six diesel engines. The fire was extinguished, but it left the vessel with just auxilary power as the ship’s generators were disabled. Multiple tugboats are towing the Splendor back to San Diego, USA. The aircraft carrier USS Ronald Regan also provided aide by delivering food and supplies including Spam, crabmeat and Pop Tarts. No injuries reported of the 4,500 passengers or crew. Reports state an investigation into the cause of the fire will be conducted.

Supply vessels collide

The supply vessels Edda Fjord (6600 dwt) and Prosper (1025 dwt) collided near Tananger, Norway. The Edda Fjord was holed, but was still watertight and under own power. The Prosper damage disabled the vessel requiring to be towed. No reports of pollution release or injuries onboard.
